The GPS tracker once reserved for intelligence operatives have become increasingly cheap and available in recent years, and perhaps no one has benefited from this more than private investigators who make their money by monitoring suspected fraud or cheaters. With modern technology so widely available, if you suspect infidelity, it’s tempting to use a GPS tracker to catch, or keep tabs on your cheating mate. But before you rush out and buy the latest model GPS tracker to spy on the cheater, find out whether or not it’s legal in your state.

This time he was doing it from the comfort of his officer computer, helping lovers get answers. He does it secretly by placing a hidden GPS device on our in the unsuspecting potential cheater’s car.

13 Responses to Private Investigator GPS Tracking of Cheaters Raises Privacy Concerns

  1. Shari says:

Wow – so easy to “follow” someone these days. . . .too bad I didn’t have that when my daughter was a teenager! 🙂

  2. Sue says:

It really is amazing how far technology has come. I hope I never need the help of a gps tracker, but I guess it is good for the people who do. and yes, please make sure it is legal!

  3. Deborah says:

I think you don’t have anything to worry about if you’re not cheating. But, it would still be hurtful to find out that your spouse was having your car tracked.

  4. Jason says:

I hope I never need to hire a PI to investigate my girlfriend, however my newly licensed niece has been getting in trouble. I may be contacting you soon? Thanks for the post!

  5. Debra Clark says:

This would have came in handy a couple of years ago, LOL! It certainly would have saved me some grief as I contemplated divorce. 🙂 Interesting & thanks for the post!

  6. Dov Shapira says:

    This is very interesting.
As a PI, you deal only with cheaters ?

    • sieditor says:

No Dov, We also employ office Investigators who can handle various types of nationwide investigations including background checks, asset searches, general investigations, and skip tracing/locates.

  7. Jo Casey says:

I hope I’m never in a position where I feel this would be necessary. It’s the sort of situation where nobody wins – even if the partner is found to be not cheating all the trust in the relationship is eroded. Very sad.

  8. This is a very unhappy subject. I’ve got nothing to say . . . “Peace out.”

  9. Meli says:

Perhaps this is another good reason not to cheat! What other uses do PIs use the GPS for?

  10. veronica says:

This is a bit unsettling to me. If someone ever did this to me I would definitely find out what my legal recourse is. If you are that convinced that your mate is cheating on you to the point of GPS tracking, you need to move on.

  11. Yes technology does great job,.this will do help tracking if a couple suspected that their partner is cheating..And it’s good to know that its not for tracking cheaters but will do works in various types of investigations nationwide too.

  12. Tom Holmberg says:

Yikes, This is definitely a concern for privacy. I wouldn’t want to be tracked like this no matter what I did
